About Us

Emerson Elementary

Located in South San Diego near San Diego Bay, our school boasts nearly a century of tradition. The inspiration for our school's name comes from a great visionary of the 19th century, poet Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Many of our students arrive here still striving for fluency in English. To ensure that all students complete our program with increased fluency and stronger academic performance, we focus on the foundations of literacy and mathematics. We provide a variety of opportunities that allow students to take ownership of their learning. Our students monitor their progress and use reflective practices that increase their motivation and engagement.

Our students benefit from our active and involved parent community, which supports and enriches our school. Student families keep our PTO active and the campus full of great activities to energize the staff and students alike. Come see Emerson in action!

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." --Ralph Waldo Emerson
